Breaking News: A pair of disco balls have been spotted hiding out in a forest of white drapery. Onlookers reported there was just a touch of mid-day sparkle mixed with garden party romance. Those closer to the scene were mesmerized by such a whimsical display for dining. The party was later found to be dancing under a canopy of clouds, greenery and unexpected disco magic. Stay tuned. ? Some interesting history of our hidden gem and how she looked 120+ years ago was shared with us today Original chapel did not have the big bell tower or large stained glass windows when built in 1867. The original tower was on top of a lower roof line and only a single circle window existed besides the door to let in light. In 1904, when they raised the roof and added the current tower, they also added the two large windows that are there today. We knew about the tower but the windows were something unknown to us. When comparing the window details, we can now see that the original side window brickwork was curved and the “new” windows kept the the original rectangular brick and offset to form an L. (Any masons wish to correct me on that term?) The window sills are also of a different material or at least quarried from an alternate location. The two rows of heavily pollarded trees framing the entrance walkway are also something Johan might be considering bringing back. A much less of a slope at the front as well. Did the surrounding lot sink or did our lovely architecture just reach a little closer to the heavens? Big thanks to local historian extraordinaire Betty Weninger for all the help she provides us in our efforts to learn everything we can about our hidden gem! We cannot wait to read her book about our little shore of Nenno!

The bars will be serving up the good stuff so come ready for a great time. All sausage proceeds benefit the projects tackled by the Allenton Area Advancement Association. From hanging the Christmas lights every year on Main Street to improvements to our town parks, the AAAA is here to serve. We are proud members and donated use of the gardens to help make this night happen. See you on Tuesday.
